"David was an instrumental part of the Resident Culture team for two and a half years. He served as our cellar manager, barrel manager, and QA manager and helped us navigate the covid pandemic which proved to be the most challenging time in our brewery's history.

As cellar manager he put his hands on every step of the process and helped implement and document many quality improving SOPs and processes. He also spearheaded the commissioning, operation, troubleshooting (of which there was much), and regular maintenance of our 6 head CODI canning line. During his time as mixed culture and barrel manager, David greatly focused our program by eliminating bad barrels and was instrumental in developing two main culture variations that have since become the bulk of our program and have allowed us much more consistency and predictability. One of these projects became our main base golden sour, Sympathetic, which won best in show at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers in Chicago, IL. As the brewery's first QA manager he developed a quality program from the ground up on a shoestring budget. Among many other things, he helped us save significant amounts of money on yeast and also dialed in the consistency and accuracy of our pitch rates.

David is a cerebral person with a technically focused, problem solving mind. He lets science and reason guide his cellar and quality practices and has a deep understanding of the why behind processes and best practices. He also happens to have an incredibly strong work ethic. We were sad to see him go but are excited to see him use his skills to help out many more breweries in the future."
