Todd DiMatteo
Head Brewer & Co-Owner
Good Word Brewing & Public House
“Over the years we’ve filled a handful of barrels at Good Word, added cultures for me to come back to for a later time, and evaluate. Each time I returned to try a barrel I convinced myself it “wasn’t quite ready”.
This was my fear, ignorance and naivety keeping us from going down that road, and I knew we needed some assistance.
David Fuhrer and his young business Cellar Gang or Die and I have been talking for a while. Anyone who knows David will attest to his barrel wizardry, and spent time proving those skills in Charlotte.
David came down to Georgia and spent several days with us tasting through beers we had made and helped us choose a blend and bottle. I see him as a mentor in this area of brewing for me. He’s helped answer questions and give guidance and assist our future barrel program.
Cellar Gang or Die is also one of our sponsors for Les Bon, and I could not be more proud of the beer we made together-“Lesser Gods”, and can’t wait for what’s next in Good Word’s mixed culture explorations. Thank you David. Hire this guy immediately.
Look for “Lesser Gods” to be released in bottles very soon. It’s a 6% saison blend with light acidity and some young funk.”
